Round 3 heat race

Starting from 3rd place Stacey made it to the front closely followed by Brian Alexander, Eric Green, Karolina Pelc and Thomas Casas. Shay Gauthier crashed out at the hairpin trying to make up ground after a poor start but was able to rejoin. At the front Stacey tried to make a break but Alexander stayed close behind. Both managed to open a 5 second gap over Pelc, Green and Casas. Stacey hung on for the win by 0.347 seconds from Alexander. A last lap dive at Allen’s corner by Gauthier on Green saw him lose the front and go down forcing Green off the track. This allowed Pelc and Casas to cross the line to complete the front row for the final.

Round 2 final

Having been postponed in May due to bad weather this was a make up race. The field was reduced to only the riders that had completed in the original round. Again starting from 3rd, Stacey went into turn one behind Green. She made the pass and held the lead until the chequered flag although the margin of victory was only 1.735 seconds. This was the first time on the top step at a RACE regional. Green finished 2nd with the rapidly improving young Casas getting his first podium in 3rd. Pelc finished 4th and Toni Nesbitt back on track for this weekend only crossed the line in 5th. A big thank you to Pat for loaning her the bike.

Round 3 final

Starting from pole position Stacey opted for the inside on the front row. When the lights turned green she hit the front and tried to open a gap. It was not to be however’ as this would be a close contest with the top five never more that two or three seconds apart. Alexander moved into 2nd, with Green, Pelc and Casas in hot pursuit. Although not lap record pace all five were circulating in the 1:29s range. On the last half of the track Stacey was able to open a small gap but by the time they exited turn 8 each time the pack closed in again. Pelc, Green and Casas fought for 3rd. On the last lap Alexander made a pass on Stacey at turn 2. Keeping on his back wheel exiting the hairpin, Stacey made a draft pass into the fast right hander at the end of the straight. Alexander tried hard to get past again but Stacey held on by .0227s for the double. Casas claimed his second consecutive podium after an impressive weekend pipping Pelc and Green to the line. Casas proved he will be a threat at the front for the remaining races. Kyle Mistbachner finished 6th and Toni finished 7th. She is not planning to compete in the future. Stacey’s two victories and pole position now move her to the top of the championship standings from Eric Green with Thomas Casas jumping into third. Her next race will be round 7 of the National series at Shubenacadie, NS
