MotoAmerica NJMP, Superstock 600 race recap

Arrived at the track on Thursday, completed the paperwork and passed the bike through technical inspection. All was ready for Friday practice.

The rules in Superstock 600 call for a stock master brake cylinder whereas we normally run Brembo. A brand new stock one was fitted but turned out to be faulty, locking up at turn 5 on the first lap of the first practice, causing a crash. So Stacey missed the complete first practice session. Repairs were completed and another stock master cylinder fitted and with medical and technical inspection passed Stacey was ready for Qualifying 1. This time the brakes kept fading throughout the session so she had to return to the pits regularly to have the brakes bled. Stacey still did enough to qualify on her final lap in 34th position but was much further back than she wanted to be. Qualifying 2 was at 8:30am on Saturday morning so the track was much cooler. The first half of the session was difficult to get heat into the tires and in the second half Stacey reported the bike was hard to shift gear properly. Even so Stacey improved her time to move up another few positions on the start grid. However, an oil change after the session confirmed the worst with metal filings on the magnetic drain plug. The team was not able to fix the transmission so that was the end of the racing weekend resulting in two DNS's (Did Not Start).

A very disappointing result but pretty typical of how the 2015 season has gone.
