Got back from Misano late Monday night. While doing some regular maintenance on the 600 on Wednesday we discovered a major problem. Nothing else for it but to pull the engine out and check it. Pat Milligan worked hard on Wednesday evening and Thursday and we eventually arrived at the track late Thursday night.

Set up Friday morning and got out for the morning practices. After the morning sessions water was leaking from the exhaust joint area. A head gasket? So no afternoon practice while the motor was pulled out again and Pat made a return trip to Ottawa to get parts. However when the engine was opened the head gasket was fine and there was no evidence of damage. The cause was put down to a hose that had touched against the exhaust and started to leak. By this time Wes and Matt (from Jordan's Szoke's team) were pitching in to help. As the A bike engine was already out we decided to switch the bottom end of the motor from the B bike as a precaution. So it came out too. The A bike engine was rebuilt and installed. The guys had it all done in around 3 hours. A massive thank you to Pat, Wes and Matt. Couldn't have done it with out you.

Saturday morning practice and qualifying. Worked more on bike set up but Stacey was not having confidence with the front end. Made some changes but still off the pace. Qualified 8th in Pro Sport bike and 20th in Pro Superbike.

Lined up for the first Superbike race on Saturday afternoon. Not a great start but held on to the group. The race was red flagged for track clean up after a marker hay bale was damaged and scattered on track. Moved up one row for the restart and got a better start. Still struggled for pace and finished 17th.

An oil change after the race and more bad news. Some metal parts on the magnetic oil plug. It meant the engine would need to come out again. However, without spare parts to fix it there was no choice but to sit out the racing on Sunday. Very disappointed for friends and sponsors at the track. A big thank you to BLK RDR by Motvan for CSBK support this year.

Now the rush is on to get the motor rebuilt for the next CSBK round at Atlantic Motorsports Park, NS July 15-17. Keeping fingers crossed that no necessary parts are on back order. We shall find out next week.......!
