Stacey had her first ever ride on a 600 in a couple of track day sessions at ICAR at the last round of the Trackfever series. Having enjoyed the outing so much she used the Friday test day at the Shannonville RACE Rd 6 to continue to gain valuable experience on a bigger bike. The weather was sunny although the track temperature was cold. Stacey took a very steady approach and improved her lap times in every session. By the end of the day her times were comparable to those of the Novice 600 riders that have raced regularly throughout the season. On top of that she received positive feedback from the other racers who were out on the track with her. Thanks to all for their comments. It was never the plan to race a 600 this weekend but with the times from Friday Stacey decided to try her hand in the Novice 600 class. Due to rain there was no track time on Saturday. Having no practice on starting a race on the 600, she wisely decided to “ride off the line” rather that risk a wheelie or worse, a stall. This impacted her start and the leaders where able to get away at the lights. She soon got into her rhythm and finished in 4th place in the Novice 600 class. It was run in conjunction with another race. Her best lap was within .1 second of her best time on Friday which was not bad considering the bike was set up for another rider, it was the same set of tires used since ICAR (which were already race scrubs) and her injured wrist was very painful due to the amount of track time on the 600 and CBR races. Stacey thoroughly enjoyed her time on the 600. A HUGE thank you to Vanessa Gareau-Dominguez for giving
Stacey this opportunity and lending her race bike for these outings.
